From his early work with the Impressions to his solo hits "Superfly" and "Freddie's Dead," Mayfield's music and social conscience have influenced generations of performers. His first album in years recalls the power and lyrical urgency of his best work and was recorded with distinguished producers Organized Noize, Narada Michael Walden and Daryl Simmons (guest vocalists include Mavis Staples and Aretha Franklin, among others). The title track (featured in the new Spike Lee film, Get on the Bus) is the first single/video.
