What are the latest iPhone 16 leaks and rumors?

Apple is gearing up to unveil the newest iPhone range for 2024, but what do we actually know about this year’s iPhone 16 models? Let’s dive into all the rumoured iPhone 16 specs, including new colours, design changes and much more!

Larger displays for the Pro models

If you’ve been hoping for Apple to make bigger models, you might be in luck. iPhone 16 Pro rumors suggest that both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature larger displays than their iPhone 15 counterparts. 

According to the recent iPhone leaks, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max could boast a huge 6.9-inch display. 

Unfortunately, this change is said to be exclusive to the Pro models, so if you were hoping for a bigger iPhone 16 or 16 Plus, you’ll likely be disappointed. The standard iPhone 16 is expected to be 6.1 inches and the iPhone 16 Plus is expected to be 6.7 inches.

Vertical stacked cameras and a new Capture button

Leaked images from Sonny Dickson shared on X suggest a significant shift in the iPhone 16 design. If these leaks are true, we could see a return to the vertical stacked camera setup reminiscent of the iPhone 12 models, along with the introduction of a new Capture button designed specifically for photography.

This new camera arrangement could enable the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus to capture Spatial Video for use with the Vision Pro headset. The Capture button, rumored to be pressure-sensitive, will likely be located at the bottom right of the iPhone 16 models, making it easier to take photos in landscape mode.

Enhanced camera zoom for Pro models

Curious about the iPhone 16 Pro camera? Rumors suggest that both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max might feature a 5x telephoto lens – a feature previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. 

Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro may come with an upgraded 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens, enhancing low-light photography. 

Leaks from X user RGcloudS hint at an eight-part hybrid lens with two glass elements and six plastic elements, further differentiating the iPhone 16 Pro from the iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of camera specs.

Action button across all models

Last year, Apple introduced the Action button, replacing the mute switch on the Pro models. This year, it’s expected that the Action button will be included in the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. 

In addition, Apple might be relocating the volume buttons to the left side of the device, beneath the new Action button.

New color options

There’s been plenty of buzz online about potential iPhone 16 colors. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the iPhone 16 Pro lineup may feature a new rose color, replacing last year’s blue option. 

Meanwhile, another rumor suggests that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus could be available in up to seven colors, including blue, pink, yellow, green, black, white and purple. However, some believe that Apple will stick to five color options, possibly swapping yellow for white. 

As for the iPhone 16 design, it appears that all models will feature the color-infused glass back seen in the iPhone 15 series.

A18 chip across the series

For the past few years, Apple has differentiated its Pro models by equipping them with a more advanced chip than the standard models. However, if the latest iPhone 16 leaks are accurate, this trend may be changing. 

A MacRumors report featuring statements from Jeff Pu, an executive analyst for Haitong International Securities, suggests that the entire iPhone 16 series will be powered by the A18 chip, with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max receiving the upgraded A18 Bionic Pro version. This advanced chip could include a more powerful Neural Engine with additional cores, enabling new AI-driven features.
